April 26, 2024: Jeromy Duelley, Assistant Superintendent of Morgan County, WV Public Schools, accepts the very first delivery of donated hoodies from Patrick McBee, Coordinator of Hoodies from Heaven.
Hoodies from Heaven (HFH) is an apostolate of Saint Vincent de Paul Knights of Columbus Council #12191 that was formed in April 2024 to specifically minister to school-aged children in Morgan County public schools who are in need of warm seasonal clothing.

While working as an aide in the Morgan County public schools, a council member, with the help of school counselors and teachers, identified a need: children are allowed to wear coats to school, but are not allowed to wear coats during classes within the school due to safety and security concerns. Not all children are able to keep themselves warm without a coat while in school during the colder months because they lack a proper sweater or "hoodie" (a hooded sweatshirt). Because God is providential through the generosity of faithful Christians, Hoodies from Heaven was born.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
DONATE
Donations of new and gently used hoodies, sweatshirts, and sweatpants for boys and girls may be dropped off at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church during the following times:
  • Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 2:00pm in either the church narthex (gathering space) or the Parish Office;
  • Saturdays either before or after the Vigil Mass (5:00pm during EST, or 4:00pm during DST);
  • Sundays either before or after the 9:00am Mass

CLICK HERE if you would like to make either a recurring or one-time-only monetary donation to Hoodies from Heaven through our parish's Online Giving webpage.  Or, your may send your check or money order to:

Yearly Report
Our inaugural year was very successful due to the generosity of the parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul and friends within the Berkeley Springs community.

Between March and June 2024, a total of 82 hoodies were collected (8 pieces were unfortunately not acceptable), leaving a net total of 74 new and gently used hoodies, sweaters, and sweatshirts which were delivered and distributed to the public schools here in Morgan County.

The program also received a cash donation of $100.00 which was used to purchase the Hoodies from Heaven banner which is currently displayed on the front of the parish office building.

Our council members and Morgan County Public Schools staff members are so very grateful to all who supported this program so far. Please pray for the continued success of this program in order to meet the ongoing needs of the children and youth of our community.

Contact the program coordinator, Patrick McBee, for more information: 304-258-1311 or [email protected].
