- History
- On March 27, 2012, The Sanctity of Life Committee of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church opened the Morgan County Chapter of the Gabriel Project of WV at 48 South Mercer Street, Berkeley Springs, WV. The program focused on providing tangible assistance in the form of diapers, clothes, cribs and car seats to mothers of children under 2 years old. The hope was that pregnant mothers would not be tempted to abort their babies if they knew they had resources they could count on.
- The program continued until February 10, 2015. The Sanctity of Life Committee wanted to expand the scope of their operation to provide child care hints, emotional and spiritual support to the clients and children up to five years old. At this time the name was changed to Nazareth House.
- Mission:
- The Nazareth is committed to protecting and honoring life. To do this, we provide tangible support to families with babies and small children. We provide items such as cribs, car seats, diapers, formula, clothes and other donated items without imposing financial restrictions or eligibility criteria on our clients. The staff form relationships with the clients and their families. We offer spiritual and emotional support, answer questions about baby care and make referrals to other social service organizations as needed.
- Schedule:
- The Nazareth House is open two days a week following the same schedule as the food pantry and Public Schools. Hours are 10-2 Tuesday and Friday and other times if arranged ahead-of-time.

I also issued a crib and mattress to the mother with twins.

The funeral Mass may be celebrated in accord with diocesan guidelines.
Facilities Committee
The said committee has been working so hard in checking and maintaining our church facilities through its hardworking leader, Mike Stanger. Over the past few weeks our church heating and air conditioning system needed repairs, which was very costly. A new clock-timer for the system has been ordered to be put in place. Before the pandemic, the committee regularly met to discuss some issues surrounding our facilities. When all goes back to normal, the committee will return to its normal course of business to help improve and maintain our church buildings and facilities. A sincere word of gratitude goes to all who volunteer. God bless!
